We believe in the power of young people to make a difference. At Summer in the City, we channel their energy to foster a sense of community, friendship, and pride that knows no borders. We offer an easy, effective way for people of all backgrounds to get involved in Detroit.

Since 2002, our volunteers have contributed over 10,000 hours of community service to established neighborhood groups as well as independent Summer in the City projects. Our efforts include painting, planting, demolition, construction, and tutoring.

In order to empower an ever-growing volunteer force, we need your support. Past donations have enabled us to take on projects such as painting murals and renovating rooms at a Detroit elementary school. In the summers to come, we hope to undertake more ambitious projects.
